UAE E-INVOICING UPDATE

The UAE Ministry of Finance has officially announced the phased implementation of the UAE E-Invoicing System as part of the country’s digital transformation and tax compliance initiative.

The new framework will require businesses to issue and exchange invoices electronically in a structured format through accredited service providers. Traditional PDF or paper invoices alone will no longer meet the required standard once the mandate becomes effective.

  • Pilot & voluntary phase begins: 1 July 2026

BUSINESSES WITH ANNUAL REVENUE OF AED 50 MILLION AND ABOVE:

  • Deadline to appoint Accredited Service Provider: 31 July 2026
  • Mandatory implementation: 1 January 2027

BUSINESSES WITH ANNUAL REVENUE BELOW AED 50 MILLION:

  • Mandatory E-Invoicing implementation: 1 July 2027

POTENTIAL PENALTIES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

Under the latest UAE regulatory guidance, administrative penalties may apply for non compliance, including:

  • AED 5,000 per month for failure to implement the system or appoint an Accredited Service Provider within the prescribed period
  • AED 100 per invoice or credit note issued outside the required E-Invoicing system
